This is when you are part of a group that are just around. Going down the pub etc and bumping into people you know (friends) comes with next to no effort. Friendship is not forced and a social life thrives.
For some reason I have lost this in the past five years. I last had it around 2004/2005 and when I first moved to Colchester in 2000 I had it in spades. I cannot work out why it is gone. Almost definitely becoming a commuter has cut me out of a lot of local exchanges. Also people naturally move on or away. Others get families. Somehow though a lot of people from my “circles” seem to have maintained some kind of “casual social scene” which is something of mystery to me. Maybe I have no charm.
